How I got a reading baby?
Few years ago, when my daughter was only 6 months old I got these two books for her "Panchtantra". it had visuals and story. I knew she wouldn't understand a word. But it was good for her as she would look at the illustrations and finish her food quickly. So, it became a food time ritual to open the book and get her engrossed in that. Slowly but surely she displayed her choices of visuals also. she started identifying a Mouse and Mice that she particularly liked in the book. I just read that story to her. I don't know what she understood but she insisted on listening to that story everyday. I would gladly oblige as it would mean her sitting still till the story was over.
I got more books and more and more ….. till we were found by a FB group called reading racoons where mothers would make book recommendations and buying good books became easier. Rather I would say we were addicted to books now. My first post to the group was when Piku was 20 months old and she already had flipped 25 books several times over. I was going through my posts on reading racoons today (now Piku is 6 years old) and it shows how our book reading mania has evolved.
Sharing all my posts on reading racoons here.
